Interested in picking up one of these classic books, but lacking the cash? Well, we've got your back with this coupon:

$50.00
Have you ever wanted to put every 40K model you own on the table and fight someone else who's doing the same? Well, here you go. Here's a fancy, 200+ page hardcover with the rules for just that. If you don't have quite enough models for the Apocalypse level, then you might want to look into some of the really crazy stuff, like the box of hundreds of hormigaunts, or like five leman russ tanks or something. Get ready to bring way more models to the table than you ever thought you'd need.
$99.00
Yes, this is a pretty high-dollar item. It's worth it if you're a fan of Sandman, though. The oversized pages, beautiful recoloration, and bevy of extras made the first volume well worth the price, and this one looks to be no different. If you really love a comic, there will never be a better presentation than one of these Absolute Editions. If you can swing the cost, you'll find it's well worth it.
$19.99
If you passed on the Fallen Son miniseries, here's your chance to rectify that mistake. This is an excellently made comic that takes full advantage of the medium and publishing schedule. You have five largely self-contained issues that are linked thematically and also contribute to an overall story. If you're designing a book that's meant to be read monthly, or every other week, that's the way to do it. This isn't an issue to miss.
$19.99
Ever wonder what Preacher would be like without editing? Well, here's your chance. Garth Ennis holds nothing back in this book, which features sex, gore, and theology--usually all at the same time. If you're easily offended, this is not the book for you. Heck, if you're moderately difficult to offend, this still might not be the book for you. It's pretty offensive, is what I'm trying to say here.
$29.99
The second set of allies released for Warmachine is, in my opinion, the coolest. That's not just because I'm a Cryx player, either--look at that model. You take one look at it, and you get a pretty good idea of exactly what's going on. You can tell that it's otherworldly, evil, and mysterious, just by looking at the design. That's a quality miniature.
Okay, maybe I'm a little bit of a Warmachine Fanboy, but still. It's awesome. The rules aren't bad, either.
$14.99
Hey, you know what's really cool about Warhammer 40,000? The setting. It's so over-the-top grim that it almost goes into self-parody sometimes, but when it's done well, it's pretty awesome. Dan Abnett knows how to write 40K, and it shows in this awesome story about the Black Templar Space Marines. Even if you've never played 40K, you should definitely pick this comic up if you're a fan of gritty sci-fi, or fantasy. Heck, if you just like grit, then it's still worth picking up.

Aside from that, though, the Stampede looks to be a cool, interesting tournament format that rewards fast and furious play. Half of the players are defenders, half are attackers, and if the defender wins, he stays at the table. If the attacker wins, he becomes the defender. There are also some rules for attrition and a special scenario for the tournament, but you can read all of that extra stuff in the official rules document at Privateer Press's website.
Oh, and we're still running the Discountstruction league! There's not much time left, so you should definitely get in as many games as possible!
What sort of awesome stuff does Fanboy Comics have on the Electronic Bay or "E-Bay," as the youth call it? Well, here's a sampling of the sort of stuff you might see on our store. Yeah, it's just around the corner, on November 3rd. If you're interested in DMing, shoot us a line at fanboycomics@bellsouth.net. Maybe include the word "DM" in the subject title somewhere.
As usual, a great many comic books have been pushed back to a later date. This news is so shocking that we are now developing a weekly section where we announce comic delays, so you can better know when your favorite books are coming out. Or when the next delay announcement will be, whatever. We'll also include other schedule announcements, like different products coming back in stock, second printings, and the like. But this is the comic industry, and we all know which type of announcment we will see the most.

There is no stopping me. I have grown more powerful than any man could possibly imagine--more powerful than God Himself!
Well, perhaps not that powerful, but I'm still pretty powerful! For example, take this list of 'horror' comics by some foolish employee of Fanboy Comics:
Hellboy
Batman: The Long Halloween
Black Gas
Johnn the Homicidal Maniac
The Crow
Obergeist
30 Days of Night
Sandman
Lucifer
Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse
So powerful am I that now, having seen more than my fill of these pathetic lists, I shall completely disregard them! I am interested in more than just comic books--some might say I have lived my whole life in comic books--and so I turn myself to the field of games. Yes, it is time for you to endure what can only be called:

While White Wolf is primarily known for their games that glorify the way of creatures of the night, true horror is reserved for man and man alone. This core book contains all one needs to start a simple game of humans facing forces beyond their control, and other books allow persons to expand their games with a bevy of ideas. Just thinking about it has me looking for my white makeup and eyeliner.

I have never once been frightened while playing a game of Zombies...all I do is have fun! This is a board game that is always fun and rarely gets stale--although, be warned, the more players you have, the longer the game will continue. Also, the Editor tells me not to let your friend drink like nine cans of Schaeffer light beer while you are playing. He says to trust him on this.

Truly, what could make a game master's job easier than all of the enemies being indescribable! Well, either that or they are cultists. Not only that, but everything drives the players mad. Do not expect a happy ending to this game.

A new version of a classic game, filled with a bevy of old west trappings in both the setting and rules. Also, there are ghosts and demons and such as that. Honestly, I have not played the game, but the ghost on the cover was cool. TO THE NEXT OPTION!

Ha ha, this game is so hilarious, provided you know a lot about role-playing games. Which I do. There's not a lot to do in the afterlife. They don't even have a billiards table.

The only Zombie survival role-playing game on the market is quite a fun experience! The kids these days love zombies--if only they loved role-playing as well.
Fanboy Comics is still waiting for you to send your list to halloweenlists@fanboycomics.biz. Someone will be randomly selected to win a $50.00 Gift Certificate!

Vertigo has always been a place where a comic fan can go for some goodness, something to latch onto that won't go away and has a freshness to it that is unstoppable, alluring and thirst quenching. Buy this book. If not for the wonderful art or amazing writing, then because I told you to.
A group of people that aren't who you think they are spend their free time looking for Occult crimes to set right. You have the rich playboy who is a detective. You have the semi-crazy dude that is a pre-cog. You've go the extremely hot webcam queen that refuses to have sex and can read a dead body like most can read books. And you've got a cult murder that makes priests kill young African children. You have London. You've got awesome.
This book is for the educated. It touches on a lot of themes still under the cultural radar. The murder victim in the story has Kat in his throat. Kat is a drug that isn't illegal yet but has all the properties of pot and cocaine. The main character is a damaged product of pop culture with a drug addiction. This book uses the lust of society to know things to highlight what is wrong with our world, while diving head first into the Occult. Just great stuff.
Will this be the next Preacher or Transmet or 100 Bullets? Maybe. Just maybe. If the writing stays this strong with the same breakneck pacing, then yes. This book will find its fans quickly and keep them. Hopefully it won't become too confusing, like 100 Bullets. And hopefully it won't become too in love with itself, like Transmetropolitan did. I'm very excited about this comic, and I will be following it very, very closely.

I have said in these reviews that DC Comics has been getting on my nerves. The aftereffects of Infinite Crisis are still lingering, lingering all over the damn place. And the JLA that I use to love has become lame and boring (A side note, Mac of Fanboy said that he didn't like the Grant Morrison JLA. He was assault by a room of silence and stares). Some things that DC is doing are working, working really, really well. The Sinestro Corps War is one of them.
This Cyborg-Superman one shot is about Henshaw and his origin. Apparently, him and his space shuttle crew was exposed to gamma rays. His wife and his friends died and Henshaw was turned into digital information with the ability to control metal. He went through a lot of stuff afterwards, followed by the destruction of Coast City, driving Hal Jordan insane. Henshaw has been dead and back again tons of times, but he's determined to die for good this time. And he's willing to help the Anti-Monitor with destroying the universe to do it.
Three things that are cool about Cyborg-Superman and the Sinestro Corps War. 1: Cyborg-Superman is the perfect villain for the JLA. He is a enemy with Superman and Green Lantern and he's amazingly powerful, having control of the Manhunters and several yellow power rings. 2: he actually has a motivation. He wants to die, and forget all the pain he has been through. Granted, it isn't the best motivation, but it is a motivation, unlike some villains who are just sick of getting their butts kicked. 3: there are convoluted connections. The Sinestro Corps have the Manhunters, Sinestro and his crew, the Anti-Monitor, Superboy Prime and Cyborg-Superman on their side. This is a real threat. These fellows are not screwing around. This is the threat that could destroy the world and this is why we love this story line. In comparison, the In-Justice League looks like a bunch of five year olds entering a costume contest.
I still don't think that DC's editorial department is really communicating. The Green Lantern books are amazing right now, with a Justice League book that bores. The JLA isn't good enough to deal with badness like this. Is this a setup from DC, to get rid of a silly JLA? I doubt it. I hope so, but I doubt it. I didn't like seeing Superman on the last page, with is butt handed to him. I've ranted about this last week, so lets move on.
The only thing holding this book back is the art. It's not on par with the story or the writing. DC is pumping out tons of one-shots and mini-series, so their artist are spread thin. But the artist just isn't that great with the story telling or the presentation. Still, check this book out. It's essential if you are following the awesome Sinestro Corps War story line.

Here is the origin of Rex Mason: Metamorpho. You know, I was sitting around my apartment the other day, drinking some coffee and thinking, man, I wonder how Metamorpho came into being? That would be an awesome story! And guess what? I was kind of wrong. Metamorpho is alright. It isn't classic reading material. And I promise it will feel like you've read this before.
So Rex Mason is in love with Sapphire Stagg. Sapphire Stagg's dad is Simon Stagg. Simon Stagg is rich and wants to be richer. Simon Stagg has a show called Treasure Quest. Rex Mason is on Treasure Quest, looking over the world to find Treasure to get ratings and make Simon Stagg richer. Simon Stagg hates Rex. There is a thawed out Caveman named Java.
The theme of this issue is money. Everybody wants it and is willing to do some bad things to get it. Simon Stagg is willing to leave Rex Mason in the desert, while he collects all the cash. And Rex is willing to do whatever he has to so that Sapphire can stay comfortable. Part of me thinks this is Jurgens trying to infuse some morals into the book. It's loose and amazingly wordy, just like Dan Jurgens loves, but part of it works. You get a real sense of who Rex was before he was Metamorpho. He doesn't really act like Metamorpho. He's not busting out jokes and he's not gung-ho like I remembered, but this is the beginning, so things will probably progress as far as his character is concerned.
This book does feel dated, though. It doesn't fill like this happened years ago. One of the characters says that Treasure Quest will be outputted in "HD", and HD didn't happen until five years ago. So that's a mistake. Plus, how many super rich maniacs can be out there? There seems like there is one evil rich dude per hero in DC Comics. It just makes the book feel like a copy-and-paste exercise.
One thing that surprised me is the art. I'm not a big Dan Jurgens fan, but his art looks better with some decent finishes. It's not wonderful art work by any means. It is better than what I expected.
I don't think this is a comic that you have to have. I don't even think Metamorpho fans are going to want this. I'm not sure anyone who might want to buy this book. For the bored or lightly interested only.
I'd love to write something, but they're showing You Got Served in the Hell movie theater! Again! Hell is awesome! Don't worry, though, I got somebody to fill in for me. Ladies and gentleman, please offer your warm welcome to Frank Miller!
Hello. You probably think Frank Miller isn't dead.
You'd be wrong. Wrong as Hell. Heh.
You see, I died years ago. I just happened to have a contract explaining what should be done with certain assets after my death. My various collection of guns and pictures of semi-nude men engaging in feats of strength were bequeathed to Charlton Heston, my house was bequeathed to science, and my soul was bequeathed to the Devil.
Yeah, I sold my soul. As if any creator wouldn't do so to create one of the greatest, most enduring works of his medium. So I died, and Old Scratch got my soul, which is writing this for you right now. Of course, it wasn't until afterwards that the trouble began.
Contract lawyers are responsible for the whole thing. It turns out that, under certain provisions, if the contents of a container are bequeathed to someone then they also get possession of the container if its owner is not otherwise specified. Well, a judge decided that the body is nothing more than a container for the soul, so now Satan gets to pull his little puppet strings down here, and my empty vessel dances up there. Next thing you know, there's a sequel to Dark Knight Returns and every comic reader who's come down here in the past two years won't stop calling me the 'Goddamned Frank Miller.' Which in a way, I guess I am.
So there you have it. It's all out there for you to do what you will with it. When you see something new with Frank Miller's name on it, then you can be sure I had nothing to do with it.
Or maybe this is just a fan's desperate plea for a beloved icon to stop tarnishing itself.
You decide.
